Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a fun and relaxing break. I was excited to see everyone back last week:) I am looking forward to the rest of our 1st grade year.
What's going on at Tritt... *Chick-fil-A night is on January 22nd. The 1st grade team will be serving ice cream. I hope to see you there. I will be there from 7:00-7:30. *Thursday January 25th is Donuts for Rally. Donuts will be sold for $1. All proceeds to benefit the Rally foundation. *International Night is Thursday January 25th at 6:00pm. Come see, taste, and experience different examples of the many cultures that make up Tritt. What's going on in 1st grade..... *Reading- We will be comparing characters and experiences in different texts. We are reading different versions of the Gingerbread Man and using Venn diagrams to compare and contrast similarities and differences. We will also be reading books with the character Tacky the Penguin and comparing experiences. Phonics- We are working on different welded sounds and recognizing syllables in words. *Writing- We are learning about the difference between fact and opinion. We will be learning how to give an opinion and reasons to support it in our writing. We are also working on capitalization in proper nouns. *Math- We are starting to work on missing addends in equations. Ex. 3+ _= 10. We will be using different strategies we have learned to solve equations as well as relating addition and subtraction to solve equations. *Social Studies- We are learning about some new American Heroes- Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea. We will learn about similarities and differences between their time and our time as well as important contributions they made for our country. |
