What's going on at Tritt....
**Falcons spirit week kicks off Monday!! -Monday- hat day: wear your Falcons hat or favorite team hat. Also, anyone who has written a clap/rap/song for the Falcons it is due Monday. -Tuesday- classroom door decorations will be judged. We worked on decorating jerseys, footballs, and helmets last week. We will put them together on our door tomorrow. -Wednesday- chosen entries of rap/clap/song will be showcased. -Thursday- hallway decorations will be judged. Teachers are working together to decorate their hallways and they will be judged then. -Friday- Falcons spirit day! Students can show their Falcons spirit with shirts, hats, jerseys. **Tritt school dance on Friday February 10th.The theme is Holly wood. Dress as your favorite Hollywood star. Kindergarten and 1st grade session 6:00-7:00 pm. Tickets are $3 online until February 8th and then $4 at the door. See PTA on the Tritt website for more information. **Donut day to benefit the Rally Foundation will be February 9th. Flyer will be going home Monday. What's going on in 1st grade.... *New homework boards will be going home this week. *STEM challenge- we are working on creating a snowman for our STEM challenge. We started the planning last week and will be doing the creating this week. I am looking for a couple of recyclable items that the students needed by Wednesday this week: -2 liter bottles with lids -milk jugs with lids -any bottle caps *Valentines information- We will be exchanging valentines in our class on Tuesday February 14th. Students can decorate a container at home that they can bring in to put valentines in. I will send home a class list and students can do a valentine for everyone in our class. **Reading- We are working on central message in reading. We are learning what lesson the author is trying to teach us from books. We continue to work on silent 'e' words. Reading and spelling them as well as reading them in text. **Math- We continue to work on missing addend as well as comparing numbers. We are also practicing these skills in word problems. We will be doing a couple of 'Super Bowl' math centers this week. **Science- We will begin studying light and shadow this week. We will tie in Groundhog's Day with our study of light and shadows. **Writing- We will continue this week with our opinion writing. We will be writing our opinion to the book Hey Little Ant! Should we squish the ant or save the ant? We are also working on our opening and closing sentences. We will continue with our singular and plural nouns and learn about the suffix -es. **STEM- We will finish up our snowman challenge and then start a shadow STEM challenge. **Special themes tied in with lessons this week- Groundhog's Day, Super Bowl, and Valentine's Day. |
